  1. Remote Test Execution via CommandLine

Since Ranorex 6.0 it's possible to do Remote Tests with Ranorex Agents. Starting of such tests is only possible with Ranorex Studio. It would be great to start these tests via CommandLine.

We started working on this feature, and it turned out that we need more time than initially estimated.
Unfortunately, we have to postpone this feature until Ranorex Studio 8.3 release to make sure the Ranorex Agent also supports our current features in progress (multiple test suites), and we don’t break existing functionality.

Because of the high demand for this feature, we will provide a beta version of it as soon as possible so that you can lay your hands on it. I will keep you updated.

    • Reuse Testcases

Make it possible to use a testcase more than once in a testsuite, just as it is possible to reuse a recording or code module. This would allow more modular use of testcases.

      • Dark Theme

I would like to see a full dark theme for studio, that changes windows, title bars, menus, buttons, project view, module browser, test suite view, properties, and any other elements of Ranorex Studio to a dark theme with white or syntax colorized text. Not just the code editor, but all of Ranorex Studio should be able to be set to "dark theme". I use the dark theme for Visual Studio, and would like the same for Ranorex Studio.

        • Remote view of licence server status

We have a limited number of licenses running via a license server.

It would be useful if there was a way that we could check the license server status remotely via a webservice api or http server.

At present I need to remote onto the appropriate box then check the licence info and confirming that licences are free before launching a test run.

          • API Code Examples

Having code examples directly in Ranorex API documentation would not only simplify the work of those who like to code but would ultimately reduce rate of unnecessary posts of those on forum who are seeking for appropriate and dynamic solutions.

            • Upgrade solutions in one go

it would be nice to have a better way to upgrade solutions with new Ranorex versions than opening them one by one for upgrade.

              • Support multiple test suites within one project

To prevent ugly merges involving rxtst files, we would like to isolate the tests being worked on by different team members to unique test suites (rxtst files). The problem is that only the main Test Suite gets an executable file and only it can be run and deployed on remote machines. We would like Ranorex to support multiple Test Suites in a single project (maybe each rxtst gets an exe generated so they can be called via command line).

I see another user had the same request here: https://www.ranorex.com/forum/adding-multiple-rxtst-files-to-project-improving-svn-t9742.html

                  Hello,

I am happy to tell you, that this idea is currently under development and will be shipped with the next release Ranorex 8.2.

                  Outline of this feature:
                  - A project can handle multiple test suites
                  - Data can be copied from one test suite to another (within one project) without losing data binding
                  - A playlist defines the run order of the test suites and its parameters
                  - The CLI considers the playlist if available and can also address single test suites.

                  Best regards

                • Management Overview of Report content

Our reports are frequently sent to management. They usually complain that there is far too much content they are not interested in. They just need the “failed/success”, sometimes not even for each TC.
A setting would be nice which lets either the entire report be generated in a “management view”, or a live switch to “management” at the end of normal report creation.

                  • Visual Studio plugin

Many Ranorex users prefer to use the MS Visual Studio IDE because of it's power and familiarity for .NET coding. It would be nice if Ranorex would make a VS plugin that was capable of presenting the test suites, repos, and modules the same way that Ranorex Studio does. This would allow us to use whichever IDE we are most comfortable with.

                    • Settings to select 64bit Spy and Recorder in Ranorex Studio

In the current Ranorex Studio, the embedded Spy and Recorder point to Spy 32bit and Recorder 32bit.

For automating tests for a 64bit app, the 64bit Spy and Recorder are needed (delivered as separate tools).

It would be pretty useful to have some configuration settings to choose the Spy&Recorder version Ranorex Studio will use/trigger: 32bit vs 64bit.
This way one would keep the benefit (more productive) of working only with/from within Ranorex Studio.

Hopefully this would get in the next Ranorex Studio releases.

                      Thanks a lot,
                      Cheers.

P.S. Congrats for the "Uservoice" btw. Great idea ;)

                      • Read Excel files from a Ranorextest without Microsoft Office installed

We want to start a Windows-Jenkins-Slave to start a Ranorex-Test in a Jenkins-pipeline. This scenario is only usefull if Ranorex could read Excell files without Microsoft Office installed (licensecost)

                        • Add a recording module action for calling another recording module including databinding if needed

Add a recording module action for calling another recording module including databinding if needed.

For me as Testautomation Engineer it is not that difficult to write some Usercode to do this but for a Tester with no programming language background it is not.

e.g. : In our application we searching for medicaments, after a successful search we can do several actions with the search result. Therefore this search operation will be used many times and I sepparated this to sepparat recording module that consums the medicament as a parameter. If you do not want to use a user code action…

                          • Allow Variables as part of Validate action Match Value regex in Ranorex UI

Often when validating e.g. confirmation messages e.g. "Username has done something" I have a need to make username a variable read from dataset or parameter. In that case Match Value in validate statement would look like "@varUsername has done something". Unfortunately this is not currently supported by Ranorex making validation of dynamic regex expressions containing variable part not possible unless you do it via User Code action.

                            • Please improve the API documentation

The documentation of the Ranorex API is extremely minimalistic, making it very hard (if not impossible sometimes) to understand and use it. In my opinion, most explanations for classes, attributes and methods are so short that they provide no help at all. Information on how to work with the classes in context is missing. In rare cases you'll find some examples in the forum, but in general you're lost. Please take the trouble to really improve the API documentation. And/or offer some Advanced Training for automation engineers who want to learn the API. Thanks!

                              • Make "Wait for exist" action for Web more robust

At the moment when I click on web element that causes load of a new or reload of an existing page and I want to validate/make use of web elements on that page I need to make sure that those elements exits in DOM. I do that using "Wait for exist [web element]" action. • License Manager: Administrator can release a blocked floating license

                                    Hi all,
I want to know how I or our administrator can unlock a floating license via the Ranorex License Manager?

                                    Situation:
•User A starts Ranorex Studio using one Floating license
•User A leaves his Computer (while Ranorex Studio is running) and goes home
•User B wants to start Ranorex Studio using the Floating license which is blocked by User A

                                    Requirement:
•certain persons (i.e. Administrator) with access to lic manager can close active connections manually

                                    Goal:

                                    • Improve databinding UI

The current way of how databinding and data connectors work is great. What is a little bit unhandy is how user sets and changes the binding. Currently you open a parameter and set to which module variable it will be bound (see binding_direction.png). What would be better is the ability to open the binding dialog for given module and set what paramater will be bound to what module variable (see dialog.png).
It wouldn't change anything inside the binding mechanism. The only thing needed is the enhanced UI. In fact, all the information are stored in the *.rxtst file and if…

                                      • Sorting repository items

It would be nice to have the option to sort repository items. When adding additional items into the repository the ability to find items becomes more difficult. My naming convention is such that items are labeled to first identify where they are within the applications so when reviewing the repo items I could see if all the objects were captured and without being able to sort the Repo items this is more difficult to accomplish (having the search capability is great)

Although you have your blogs how to do web testing with Ranorex in general, it would be awesome if there is more out-of-the-box support which makes it easier to test my web service
